My Thesis is brought together by the idea of line and how it can be represented. Sculpturally a line can transform space and take a piece of work to another dimension with the simplest action. This can be seen through my five life size wire figures, which utilize the idea of a line and show its ability to take up 3D space. Each figure is positioned in a way that reflects the dilemma of decision and choice: Instincts- Thought/Brain, Courage/Heart, Internal/Gut, Groin/Lust, and Indecision. In terms of Printmaking, the line makes it all happen. The blank paper becomes something more once the etched lines and shapes that are formed become imprinted. I take the idea of the figure and the human instincts and focus on the organ that feels the pressure and stress in making a decision.
